Keyword Volume Checker

Search volume, competition, CPC and intent type for any keyword, across 240+ countries. Bulk check up to 100 keywords at once.

Keyword Volume Checker
Get relative search interest scores (0-100) and 12-month trend data for any keyword, in any country. Powered by Google Trends, see the limitation note below.
What it does

See real keyword volumes, including the data Ahrefs hides on the free tier

Most free volume checkers either give you absolute zeroes or rounded buckets like "1K-10K", useless for prioritisation. This tool returns actual monthly volume, year-over-year trend, competition score (0-100), CPC for paid context, and the most likely search intent (informational, commercial, navigational, transactional).

Bulk mode lets you paste up to 100 keywords at once, get a CSV-ready table, and sort by any column. Ideal for the keyword research phase of a content strategy.

Volume traps

Why "high volume" keywords are usually a trap

Keyword volume is the most over-weighted metric in SEO. Three things matter more:

1. Intent match

A 100-volume keyword with perfect commercial intent (e.g. "best CRM for solo consultants") will outconvert a 10,000-volume informational keyword (e.g. "what is CRM"). Always look at intent before volume.

2. Difficulty vs your site authority

A 50-volume keyword you can rank #1 for in 60 days outperforms a 5,000-volume keyword you might rank #15 for in 18 months. Check competition score against your domain authority.

3. Cluster volume, not single-keyword volume

A topic with 50 supporting keywords each at 100 monthly searches has 5,000 cluster volume, usually more rankable and more valuable than one 5,000-volume head term. Optimise for the cluster.

FAQs about the Keyword Volume Checker

Aggregated clickstream data from multiple panels and Google Keyword Planner. Numbers are within ±15% of paid tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush) for high-volume keywords, and within ±30% for long-tail.
Anything below 10 monthly searches is reported as zero by most data sources (privacy/data quality reasons). It doesn't mean nobody searches it, it means nobody searches it enough to register in the panels. Long-tail content can still rank and drive traffic from queries that never appear in any volume tool.
0-30: easy, you can rank with strong on-page alone. 30-60: medium, you need on-page + 5-15 quality backlinks. 60-100: hard, you need on-page + 30+ backlinks + brand authority. These are guidelines, your actual difficulty depends on your domain authority vs the SERP.
They're the same number, search volume is search volume regardless of whether users click ads or organic results. CPC tells you what advertisers pay; volume tells you total search demand.
Real search behaviour fluctuates with seasonality, news, and trends. Large changes (>40%) usually mean a trending event or news cycle. The trend chart shows you 12 months of history.
Yes. Specify the country/language in the dropdown. Volume is country-specific, "buy iphone" in India is different from "buy iphone" in the US.
Updated weekly. Search volume doesn't change minute-to-minute, weekly granularity is typical for paid tools too.
